Welcome Reception at Vienna City Hall (Rathaus) – An Evening of Heritage and Hospitality

We are delighted to invite you to the Welcome Reception of IEEE SMC 2025, held in the magnificent “Festsaal” of the historic Vienna City Hall – a true jewel of neo-Gothic architecture.
Join us for this networking event with a touch of Viennese flair, surrounded by the splendor of one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Designed by renowned architect Friedrich Schmidt and completed in the late 19th century, this grand hall offers a breathtaking setting to kick off the congress in style. Guests will be greeted with a welcome drink, accompanied by a selection of canapés. We are honored that a representative of the Mayor of Vienna will be present to extend a warm official welcome to all congress participants.
Participation in the Welcome Reception is included in the congress fee. Additional tickets can be booked as part of the congress registration for EUR 24 each.

Please note: Entry to the Welcome Reception is via the side entrance at Lichtenfelsgasse 2, 1010 Vienna – not the main entrance of the Rathaus.
Access is only available to those who signed up for it during registration. Please don’t forget to wear your name badge, as it’s required for entry. You can pick up your badge at the congress center before heading to the reception.
How to get there?
By public transportation (30 minutes):
From the congress center
Walk to "Kaisermühlen – VIC" (U1)
- From the congress center, it’s a short 3-minute walk to the underground station “Kaisermühlen – VIC” (U1, red line).
Take the U1 towards “Oberlaa”
- Stay on for 3 stops (about 10 minutes).
- Get off at “Praterstern”.
At Praterstern, transfer to the U2 (Purple Line) toward “Karlsplatz”
- Follow the signs for the U2 line (in the direction of Karlsplatz).
- Ride for 4 stops and get off at “Rathaus”.
Walk to Lichtenfelsgasse 2 Entrance
- Exit the station and walk about 3 minutes along Friedrich-Schmidt-Platz.
- The Lichtenfelsgasse entrance to the Rathaus is clearly marked and will be signposted for congress participants.

Join us for the IEEE SMC 2025 Conference Banquet at the Austria Center Vienna (conference location).
Enjoy an elegant three-course set menu thoughtfully curated to reflect both local and international culinary influences, accompanied by a live Viennese orchestra and graceful waltz performances by professional dance couples.
Celebrate in true Viennese style as we honor the city's rich musical heritage – home to legendary composers like Mozart, Beethoven, and Strauss – in the very place known as the City of Music.
Participation in the Conference Banquet is included in the congress fee, except for Students. Additional tickets can be booked as part of the congress registration for EUR 102 each.
